About the Role
Alorah Healthcare is seeking an experienced Director of Staff Development (DSD) to lead education, training, and competency programs for our Las Vegas, NV facility. In this role, you will ensure all nursing and care staff are equipped with the clinical knowledge and skills needed to deliver high-quality, compliant resident care. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the Administrator and working closely with the Director of Nursing and Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct new-employee orientation for all clinical and nursing staff
- Develop and deliver ongoing in-service education programs to meet state and federal regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate training records and ensure staff certifications and licenses remain current
- Assess staff competencies and identify additional training needs based on survey results, incident trends, and quality metrics
- Serve as a resource for infection control, safety, and clinical best-practice education
- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and department heads to support quality improvement initiatives
- Prepare for and support state and federal surveys related to staff training and competency
- Stay current on changes to nursing practice standards, facility policy, and regulatory guidelines
Qualifications
- Active RN or LPN/LVN license in the state of Nevada
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- Prior staff development, education, or training experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations (CMS, OSHA, infection control standards)
- Strong communication, organizational, and presentation skills
- Certification as a Staff Development Coordinator or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe
