Job Summary
The Fire Sprinkler Installation Technician/Fitter is responsible for the installation of fire protection piping, sprinkler heads, valves, and related system components for commercial and industrial facilities. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Install wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems in accordance with applicable codes, specifications, and company standards.
- Install fire protection piping, fittings, valves, hangers, and sprinkler devices.
- Install tenant fit outs with hard drops and flex drops.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed, materials used, and project progress.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
- Provide guidance, training, and verbal/written instruction to apprentices and less experienced team members.
- Coordinate work activities with project supervisors, contractors, and other trades as required.
- NFPA 200 psi hydrostatic testing.
- Transport, carry, and operate tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Qualifications Required
- Previous fire sprinkler installation experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Ability to perform physical labor in various work environments, including climbing ladders and working at heights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred
- NICET certification or other fire protection industry certifications.
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
- Experience reading construction drawings and blueprints.
- Experience leading crews or mentoring apprentices.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crouch, climb, and work overhead for extended periods.
- Ability to work in commercial construction and industrial environments.
Successful completion of a drug test and pre-employment background screening is required. MVR checks are required for all driving positions.
