Jackson Walnut Park School is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and compassionate Kids' Corner Assistant Director to help lead our Montessori afterschool program serving children from Toddlers through Kindergarten. Working alongside the Kids' Corner Director and Montessori Principal, you'll help shape a program that supports children's social, emotional, and developmental growth while mentoring staff and building strong relationships with families.
What You'll Do
As the Kids' Corner Assistant Director, you will:
Inspire an Engaging Program
- Partner with the Kids' Corner Director to plan and implement creative, age-appropriate activities.
- Help prepare the Kids' Corner environment before the school year and organize materials throughout the year.
- Maintain a welcoming, safe, clean, and engaging learning space.
- Monitor supplies and inventory to keep the program running smoothly.
- Track daily student and staff attendance.
- Document incidents, accidents, and behavioral concerns accurately and professionally.
- Share weekly program highlights and photos for the school's community newsletter.
Support Children Every Day
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
- Foster a respectful, positive, and inclusive environment.
- Guide children through daily routines while encouraging independence and confidence.
- Remain on-site until every child has been safely picked up.
Lead and Support Staff
- Assist in supervising and mentoring full-time and part-time Kids' Corner staff.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and clear communication.
- Provide feedback to support staff growth and development.
- Coordinate daily operations and ensure all closing responsibilities are completed.
Build Strong Family Relationships
- Greet and communicate with families during daily pick-up.
- Share important information with the Kids' Corner Director.
- Notify families when children need replacement clothing or personal items.
Promote Health & Safety
- Help maintain emergency supplies and student medical information.
- Ensure staff know emergency procedures and supply locations.
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Obtain and maintain EpiPen and Inhaler Administration certification.
Be a Collaborative Leader
- Attend school events, professional meetings, and trainings as needed.
- Support additional program needs as assigned by the Kids' Corner Director and Montessori Principal.

- Monday-Friday
- 10:45 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.
No School Days (Kids' Corner Open)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supervising staff in an early childhood or school-age program.
- Experience working with children from toddlers through age six.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain before employment).
- EpiPen and Inhaler Administration Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience in Montessori education is preferred but not required.
