Industrial Maintenance Technician (Injection Molding) – Spokane Valley, WA
Job Summary:
Our Spokane Valley, WA injection molding facility is hiring a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to support production across 25 injection molding machines and related equipment. In this hands-on role, you will focus on troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic controls-related issues, while helping drive a strong preventive maintenance program through our PM system. This team member will also play a key role in supporting ongoing plant moves, equipment relocations, layout changes, and infrastructure improvements throughout the shop. The Industrial Maintenance Technician helps ensure machinery, support systems, and facility equipment remain safe, reliable, and highly productive. This is a full-time, day-shift position (Monday–Friday) with occasional off-hours or weekend duty for critical repairs, moves, or installations (with overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 per week).
Key Responsibilities:
· Equipment Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic controls-related issues on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment. Respond quickly to breakdowns and work systematically to identify root causes and restore equipment to service.
· Preventive Maintenance System Support: Execute and support the plant’s preventive maintenance program by completing assigned PM tasks, documenting findings, updating maintenance records, and identifying follow-up repairs or improvements. Help improve PM effectiveness by communicating recurring issues, recommended parts, and task refinements.
· Facility & Infrastructure Support: Assist with plant moves, equipment relocations, layout changes, utility routing, and infrastructure modifications throughout the shop. Support safe installation, startup, and validation of moved or newly installed equipment.
· Equipment Installations, Moves, & Upgrades: Support installation and setup of new or relocated machines, workstations, and support equipment. Assist with machinery upgrades and modifications while minimizing disruption to production.
· Collaboration & Support: Work closely with production supervisors, operators, and other team members to prioritize repairs, coordinate PM work, and improve equipment reliability. Coordinate with outside vendors or contractors as needed while maintaining safety and quality standards.
· Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and company safety regulations, including proper use of PPE and Lockout/Tagout during equipment service. Identify and address potential safety hazards in the maintenance shop and on the production floor.
· Experience: 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with proven ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment. Experience supporting preventive maintenance activities, equipment moves, and general facility support is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications:
· Troubleshooting Skills: Demonstrated ability to diagnose equipment failures and perform effective repairs across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical/control systems in a manufacturing environment.
· General Maintenance Skills: Working knowledge of industrial equipment and facility systems, including pumps, compressors, conveyors, chillers, dryers, material handling equipment, and production support systems.
· PM / CMMS Experience: Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or similar PM tracking system to complete work orders, document repairs, and maintain equipment history.
· Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of industrial safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and safe maintenance practices. Ability to maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures consistently.
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Industry Experience: Prior experience with injection molding machines, plastics manufacturing equipment, or other automated production equipment is a significant plus. Familiarity with hydraulic systems, robotics, conveyors, dryers, and temperature control equipment is highly desirable.
· Reliability & Improvement Mindset: Experience identifying recurring equipment issues, recommending corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement efforts that improve uptime, maintainability, and PM effectiveness.
· Facility Project Support: Experience assisting with equipment moves, line reconfigurations, utility changes, or shop infrastructure projects in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, Monday–Friday day shift (approximately 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM). Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required for emergency breakdowns or major equipment projects. All overtime hours are compensated at the appropriate overtime rate.
Compensation & Benefits:
· Pay Rate: $32–$40 per hour range, DOE) – equivalent to about $75,000–$85,000 per year, plus overtime pay for any hours beyond 40 per week.
