American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT certification and pediatric critical care experience.

>Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching and Magnet-designated hospital with 323 inpatient beds, including 70 NICU beds
-
Unit is RRT-NICU, with float requirements to PICU and CICU across all ages
-
No floating to sister facilities

Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
3 to 4 shifts per week with every other weekend required
-
Guaranteed 36 hours per week with up to 48 hours available

No on-call requirements

Block scheduling not available
-
Uses Cerner charting system
-
Active RRT certification required
-
DC RRT license required; pending license accepted but must be active before start (license required if applicable)

BLS and PALS certifications required prior to start

NRP certification preferred
-
Minimum 1 year of experience required; 3+ years recent experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers

NICU/PICU experience preferred; pediatric experience strongly preferred

Level I Trauma experience preferred

Prior travel experience required

Cerner charting experience preferred

Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
-
Experience troubleshooting high pressure alarms and weaning from mechanical ventilation preferred
-
Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP and umbilical blood gases
-
Skilled in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
-
Experience with medication administration including Nitric Oxide (iNO), Inhaled Flolan, and Ketamine preferred
-
Basic EKG interpretation and ABG interpretation skills preferred
-
Provide respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients in a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
-
Float within scope of practice between NICU, PICU, and CICU for patients of all ages
-
Complete pre-start training modules (non-billable, averaging 20+ hours) prior to orientation

Child-friendly scrub attire required in any solid color with no logos
-
Maximum of 3 shifts off permitted for 13-week contracts; maximum of 8 shifts off for 26-week contracts

Taking a full week of RTO requires extending the contract by an additional week to make up missed shifts
-
RTO not approved during specified holiday blackout periods
-
Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday preference
-
Local candidates accepted at travel rate with no mileage restriction
-
Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
-
First-time travelers considered with 3+ years of recent experience strongly preferred
