Position Summary
The CDL Class A Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of products to customer locations while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport finished products to customers and designated locations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule
- Load, secure, and unload products in accordance with safety requirements
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery paperwork, and transportation records
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and internal departments
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly
- Adhere to all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company policies
- Represent Sutherland Packaging professionally during customer interactions
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A License
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience
- Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety practices
- Ability to load, unload, and secure freight safely
- Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, move, and handle materials as needed
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks and trailers safely
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions during deliveries
