We are currently seeking an experienced Seasoned Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our fast-growing team. This individual will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of HVAC ductwork and related sheet metal components. Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, system layout, and proper installation techniques is essential.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements
Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and machines
Install and assemble sheet metal components in commercial settings, including HVAC ductwork, ventilation systems, and architectural sheet metal
Perform welding, soldering, and fastening of sheet metal parts
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes
Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to ensure timely project completion
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Ensure proper system functionality by inspecting, testing, and adjusting completed installations to meet quality and safety standards.
Collaborate with project teams and other trades on-site to ensure accurate measurements, timely completion, and seamless integration of HVAC components.
Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in a safe and organized manner while adhering to company safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
The position will report to the local Install Manager.
High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred
Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial sheet metal work
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and ductwork installation
Ability to operate sheet metal machinery and tools safely and efficiently
Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and practices
Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various environments
Certification in welding or HVAC installation, preferred
Experience with computerized fabrication equipment, preferred
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, preferred
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal numbers. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem-solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
