Reports to: Assistant Guest Services Manager
House Managers are responsible for overseeing Front of House operations involving patrons and volunteers at Geva Theatre and helping ensure a welcoming, clean, and professional environment throughout the patron experience. House Managers report directly to the Assistant Guest Services Manager.
House Managers interact directly with patrons, volunteers, Bar Staff, Box Office Staff, and Stage Management and on occasion interact with Geva’s kitchen partners and other members of Staff.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
· Foster a cheerful and professional environment at all times for patrons, volunteers, and staff.
· Lead pre-show preparations and volunteer/usher briefings
· Oversee and assist volunteers throughout the performance, including post-show house cleanup
· Assist patrons with seating, accessibility, wayfinding, etc.
· House Managers, in coordination with Bar Staff and other Front of House staff, share responsibility for maintaining clean and welcoming public spaces throughout performances and events. This includes regular walkthroughs of the lobby, donor lounge, restrooms, and other patron areas to identify and address patron needs and facility concerns; clear items from tables and seating areas; check restrooms for cleanliness and supplies; and address or report issues as appropriate.
· Assist with maintaining safe patron areas during inclement weather when Facilities staff are not available, including monitoring entrances, walkways, lobby area, and restrooms for weather-related hazards. As needed, duties may include light shoveling, applying ice melt/salt, and mopping wet floors. Report larger snow, ice, water, or facility concerns to the appropriate staff.
· Respond to patron incidents, emergencies, and other Front of House concerns in accordance with Geva's established procedures, communicating with Stage Management and other staff as appropriate.
Qualifications
· Availability to work multiple nights and weekends, with occasional special events as needed.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on email correspondence, Salesforce.com, and in-person communication.
· Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing and walking for extended periods, navigating stairs, bending and reaching, and occasionally lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
· Three years of experience with similar responsibilities and/or qualifications is preferred but not required.
