Nelson Media Company is looking for enthusiastic, community-minded individuals to represent our local newspapers throughout North Iowa.
We're seeking part-time Community Marketing Representatives who enjoy meeting people, supporting local businesses, and making a positive impact in their hometowns. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants flexible hours while helping strengthen local journalism and local businesses.
Whether you're a retiree, former educator, community volunteer, business professional, or simply someone who enjoys building relationships, we'd love to talk with you.
About the Position
As a Community Marketing Representative, you'll become one of the local faces of your community newspaper. Your role is to help businesses grow through effective marketing while also helping expand readership and community engagement.
This position is not simply about selling advertising. It's about building lasting relationships and connecting local businesses with the audiences they want to reach.
Each representative will primarily work within one of our newspaper communities.
Responsibilities
- Visit and build relationships with local businesses
- Sell print and digital advertising opportunities
- Introduce businesses to Nelson Media Company's full range of marketing services, including:
- Professional video production
- Social media marketing
- Digital advertising
- Website advertising
- Sponsored content
- Graphic design
- Branding and marketing consulting
- Help increase newspaper subscriptions and community awareness
- Identify new advertising opportunities and business partnerships
- Share story ideas and community happenings with our editorial team
- Attend community events and represent your local newspaper
- Deliver exceptional customer service while helping businesses achieve their marketing goals

- Sales or marketing experience is helpful but not required

Compensation
- Part-time, flexible schedule
- Competitive hourly pay and/or commission opportunities
