Window & Door Install Tech
Essential Job Functions:
1. Cover and protect all interior areas of home where foot traffic or construction debris is expected.
2. Remove window unit from truck, bring to area of building where it will be installed, and inspect for damages/defects before construction begins.
3. Pull off trim stops with pry bar and use sawzall to cut existing window unit out of wall.
4. Clean and prepare the rough opening for new unit, repairing or replacing wood where needed.
5. Move to exterior of building to assist Lead Installer in setting the window unit in the rough opening.
6. Using the Lead Installer’s directions as a guide, insert shims under the window unit, as needed.
7. Insulate the interior and exterior of the window with fiberglass or foam insulation, depending on project needs.
8. Putty the nail holes to create a smooth, finished appearance.
9. Use an aluminum break to bend aluminum cladding to correct profile and dimensions.
10. Attach hardware, insert screens, and remove labels from windows and place NFRC stickers in the homeowner packet.
Secondary Job Functions:
1. Ensure project work area has been thoroughly cleaned including vacuuming floors, cleaning interior and exterior of glass, picking up remaining garbage/scraps.
2. Ensure yard has had all debris and equipment removed.
3. Once inspection is complete, a yard sign should be place in the front yard. If the building is on a corner, both sides with street frontage should get a sign. The Lead Installer is responsible for obtaining homeowner permission to place these signs.
4. Dispose of jobsite waste (old windows, wood, cardboard, etc.) upon return to shop
5. Restock any materials that have been depleted from the work truck.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of replacement window or general construction experience preferred
- Ability to climb ladders with windows that weigh up to 100lbs.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions throughout the year.
- Must have own basic tools (drill, hammer, snips, tape measure, tool pouch, speed square, nail set, screwdrivers, putty knife and/or 5-in-1 tool, and pry bar).
- Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Great communication and customer service skills with the ability to clearly communicate with homeowners and team members.
