The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients under supervision of the physician or mid-level provider. Assists physicians and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as primary liaison between patients; staff and physicians.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
- Completion of Vocational Nursing Program or Associates Degree in Nursing
Minimum Work Experience
- One-year License Vocational Nurse experience
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Current state vocational nurse license
- Current CPR certificate
Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology; anatomy; physiology; and pathophysiology. Familiarity with health care systems; regulations; policies; and functions. Understanding of documentation standards.
- Knowledge of equipment; supplies; and materials needed for medical treatment. Understanding of basic laboratory procedures including preparation and screening.
- Knowledge of infectious disease management and control and safety standards
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control; environmental safety and patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records
- Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the business practices including principles of employee development to train; delegate and mentor staff. Knowledge of medications and other pharmacological agents used in a clinic setting.

- Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques
- Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions; safe workplace and confidentiality methods
- Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data
