Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Elementary Art Teacher. This full-time position involves fostering creativity and artistic expression in young learners while developing their appreciation for the arts. The ideal candidate will create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and collaboration among students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum that aligns with educational standards and fosters creativity.
- Plan and deliver engaging art lessons that cater to various learning styles and abilities.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and self-expression.
- Assess and evaluate student progress in art skills and concepts, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
- Organize and facilitate art exhibitions and showcases to celebrate student work and promote the arts within the school community.
- Collaborate with other educators to integrate art into interdisciplinary projects and enhance overall student learning.
- Manage classroom supplies and materials, ensuring a safe and organized workspace for students.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to promote student success and address any concerns.
- Stay current with trends in art education and incorporate new techniques and technologies into the curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of best practices in art education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or license in Art Education for elementary levels.
- Proven experience teaching art to elementary-aged students, preferably in a classroom setting.
- Strong knowledge of various art techniques, mediums, and art history.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
- Ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that accommodates diverse learning needs.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a love of art and creativity in students.
- Familiarity with current educational technology and its application in art instruction.
Terms of Employment: School year as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association.
Compensation: Appropriate placement on the salary schedule as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association which can be found at www.newhaven.misd.net under the transparency page.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education and Administrative Guidelines.
