Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed patient evaluations tailored to pediatric needs
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and manage tube feedings with precision and adherence to safety protocols
- Operate and monitor medical equipment such as ventilators, oxygen therapy devices, and infusion pumps to support patient stability
- Implement individualized care plans based on physician orders, family input, and current best practices in pediatric health management
- Educate families on medication administration, disease management, developmental milestones, and emergency procedures to promote confident home care
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, social workers, and caregivers to coordinate holistic patient care
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with current pediatric nursing experience preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatric care including neonatal ventilator management, medication administration, and aseptic technique
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities or chronic health conditions such as cardiac issues or infectious diseases
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient tracking
- Critical care experience including ICU or PICU settings is highly desirable; hospital or emergency room experience is a plus
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-10), and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to pediatrics
- Ability to perform complex procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, catheterization (including urinary and central lines), and specimen collection
- Strong communication skills for effective triage assessments and family education; compassionate approach working with children and their families
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, weekends, or on-call hours as needed for patient care continuity
