Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Travel Registered Nurses (RNs) for multiple Medical Surgical / Telemetry (MS/Tele) contract opportunities in Maryland.
These positions are ideal for Med Surg RNs, Telemetry RNs, Medical-Surgical Telemetry Nurses, Acute Care RNs, and Travel Nurses with recent hospital experience.
Multiple openings are available across day and night shifts, providing an opportunity to match qualified nurses with the schedule that best fits their experience and availability.
The ideal candidate is a confident acute-care RN who is comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients, managing multiple diagnoses, performing comprehensive assessments, administering medications, monitoring telemetry, recognizing changes in patient condition, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Position Details
- Specialty: MS/Tele RN
- Contract: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3x12 hours
- Day Shift: Approximately 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Night Shift: Approximately 8:00 PM–8:30 AM
- Patient Population: Adults through geriatrics
- Typical Ratio: 1 RN : 5 patients
- Weekends: Every other weekend required
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty and to lower-acuity assignments as needed
- On-Call: Not required
- Charting: EPIC for applicable assignment
- Scrubs: Navy
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
- Perform comprehensive head-to-toe and focused nursing assessments.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, neurological status, pain, and overall clinical condition.
- Recognize and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications safely according to physician orders and nursing standards.
- Perform IV medication administration and manage IV therapies.
- Monitor patients receiving fluids, antibiotics, cardiac medications, and other therapies.
- Monitor telemetry and recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms.
- Assess and respond appropriately to changes in cardiac status.
- Review laboratory and diagnostic results and communicate significant abnormalities.
- Monitor intake and output, fluid status, and patient response to treatment.
- Provide wound and skin care as appropriate.
- Manage drains, catheters, IV access, and other patient care devices.
- Assist patients with mobility, activities of daily living, and safety needs.
- Implement fall prevention and infection-control measures.
- Provide patient and family education regarding medications, treatment plans, disease management, and discharge instructions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care coordination.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, medications, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
- Follow hospital policies, nursing standards, patient-safety requirements, and infection-prevention procedures.
Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Patient Care
The RN may care for patients with a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions, including patients requiring:
- Telemetry monitoring
- Cardiac observation
- Respiratory monitoring
- Oxygen therapy
- IV medications
- Antibiotic therapy
- Fluid management
- Diabetes management
- Neurological monitoring
- Post-operative care
- Infection/sepsis monitoring
- Complex medical management
- Fall-risk precautions
- Pain management
- Discharge planning
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required.
- Recent Medical-Surgical / Telemetry experience required.
- Active Maryland RN license required.
- BLS required.
- NIH certification required.
- CPI certification required.
- Ability to care for adult and geriatric patients.
- Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment skills.
- Strong medication administration and IV therapy skills.
- Ability to recognize changes in patient condition.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment.
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
ACLS
ACLS requirements vary by assignment.
ACLS is preferred for the day-shift opportunity and may be required depending on the specific assignment.
Travel Nursing Experience
A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
First-time travelers may be considered for eligible assignments, while certain opportunities require previous travel nursing experience.
Qualified nurses should apply based on their overall acute-care and MS/Tele experience.
Floating Requirements
The RN must be comfortable floating:
- Within the MS/Tele specialty
- To lower-acuity assignments when needed
- Based on patient census and staffing requirements
The ability to adapt to different patient populations and unit workflows is important for these contract positions.
Weekend & Holiday Requirements
- Every other weekend required.
- Holidays are required when they fall within the scheduled assignment.
- Specific scheduling will be determined by the assigned unit.
Electronic Medical Record
Experience with EPIC / Epic EMR is preferred, particularly for assignments utilizing Epic documentation.

2+ Years Acute Care RN Experience + MS/Tele Experience + Maryland RN License + BLS + NIH + CPI
