- Deep understanding of the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Visual and Performing Arts, with a specific focus on the Music Ensembles strand.

Intentional integration of Universal Design for Learning principles and culturally responsive practices into instruction.

Advanced proficiency in at least one instrument, ideally a string instrument.

Demonstrated experience teaching novice to intermediate string instruments (violin, viola, cello, and double bass).

Proven success with directing school concerts and community performances.

Experience preparing students for and navigating participation in regional music festivals or adjudications.

Active implementation of recruitment and retention strategies.

Proficiency in managing an instrument inventory.

Ability to perform instrument maintenance and minor repairs.

Ability to travel between multiple school buildings if necessary.

Familiarity with the Charlotte Danielson Framework for Teaching ( a plus).

Bilingual capability in Spanish ( a plus).
