About Dalton Bioanalytics
Dalton Bioanalytics is a UCLA spin-out and multi-omics research organization based at the California NanoSystems Institute in Westwood. Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to preventative healthcare, and our vision is to capture the most comprehensive biochemical picture of human health in a single analysis.
We built Omni-MS®, a one-shot multi-omics mass spectrometry platform that profiles proteins, lipids, metabolites, electrolytes, drugs, and other molecules in a single assay. Biopharma and biotech partners rely on our bioanalytical services for drug development and biomarker discovery. Backed by IndieBio/SOSV and the UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator, we're a small, fast-moving team working at the front edge of mass spectrometry, and we're growing.
About the role
Are you a careful, reliable lab technician who enjoys hands-on bench work and keeping a lab running smoothly? As a Laboratory Technician on our bioanalytical mass spectrometry team, you'll handle the day-to-day work that keeps our assays moving: preparing and extracting biological samples, making up standards, buffers, and mobile phases, running LC-MS/MS analyses to established methods, and keeping our instruments clean, maintained, and ready to go.
You'll work alongside our scientists, follow established procedures and SOPs, and pick up real hands-on mass-spec skills along the way. We're starting this role part-time, with the intent to grow it into a full-time position as the work expands.
What you'll do
- Prepare and extract biological samples (protein precipitation, liquid–liquid extraction, solid-phase extraction)
- Prepare calibration standards, QC samples, buffers, and mobile phases
- Run routine LC-MS/MS analyses following established methods
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting to keep systems running
- Keep the lab organized and stocked — manage reagents and consumables, log samples, handle waste, and maintain lab equipment (balances, pipettes, etc.)
- Process and review analytical data against defined calibration and QC criteria
- Keep clear, accurate records and follow SOPs
- Assist the team with method development and validation as needed
What you'll bring
- Hands-on wet-lab experience, especially sample preparation and extraction — recent graduates and early-career technicians are encouraged to apply
- An associate's or bachelor's degree in a science field (chemistry, biology, biochemistry, or similar), or equivalent hands-on lab experience
- Comfort with the basics of bench work: careful measurement, calibration and QC, and handling biological matrices (plasma, serum, tissue)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and good at following procedures and documenting your work
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset and eagerness to learn
Bonus points (nice to have — not required)
- Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry, especially LC-MS/MS
- Familiarity with instrument and data software (SCIEX Analyst/OS, Agilent MassHunter, Skyline)
- Exposure to proteomics, metabolomics, or lipidomics workflows
- Experience in a regulated (GLP/GCP) lab
Why join us
- Hands-on work with a cutting-edge one-shot multi-omics mass spectrometry platform
- Learn LC-MS/MS from an experienced team, including a PhD-level CSO
- A steady role with a clear path from part-time to full-time as we grow
- A small, friendly, fast-moving team
