Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 1st Shift Laser Operator to join our sheet metal shop. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for operating high-precision laser cutting equipment to produce quality components efficiently and safely. Your expertise in machine operation, blueprint reading, and mechanical troubleshooting will be essential to maintaining smooth production flow.
Responsibilities
- Set up, load and operate laser cutting machines, ensuring precise execution according to blueprints and technical specifications
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to produce accurate parts
- Program and adjust laser equipment using programming software
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on industrial equipment
- Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions and quality standards
- Handle materials safely using forklifts and other warehouse equipment while adhering to safety standards in production environments
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout the manufacturing process to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances
- Collaborate with team members on fabrication, tooling, welding, and assembly tasks as needed to meet production goals
- Maintain a clean and safe work space
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment effectively
- Experience operating laser cutters, stamping presses, press brake machines, and fabrication tools
- Ability to read blueprints accurately and interpret mechanical drawings
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments
- Knowledge of safety standards in manufacturing environments including proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Experience working in a manufacturing or factory setting with materials handling and packaging responsibilities
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality assessments
- SolidWorks or CAD experience is a plus for understanding design specifications
