Younger Toddler Teacher
Heart + Harmony Kids | Hilliard, Ohio
Heart + Harmony Kids is looking for a dependable, patient Younger Toddler Teacher who understands this unique stage of childhood.
Younger toddlers are learning to walk, communicate, explore and become more independent, often all at the same time. They need teachers who can remain calm, set consistent boundaries and still make the classroom feel warm, positive and safe.
Heart + Harmony Kids is a locally owned childcare center in Hilliard. We opened because we believed families deserved a childcare option built around thoughtful care, honest communication and respect for both children and parents.
We are not a large corporate center where teachers, children and families are treated like numbers. Our owners are actively involved, our leadership team is accessible and we work hard to create an environment where good teachers are supported and their work is noticed.
What Makes Us Different
- Smaller classroom ratios that allow teachers to give children more individual attention
- Weekly pay
- Clear and direct communication with leadership
- Brightwheel for classroom updates and communication with families
- A locally owned center where your ideas and contributions matter
- Leadership that is present, involved and willing to listen
- A genuine focus on thoughtful care rather than simply filling classrooms
What You Will Do
As a Younger Toddler Teacher, you will create a safe, structured and engaging classroom where children can explore, build confidence and begin developing important social and communication skills.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing patient, attentive and nurturing care
- Maintaining consistent classroom routines
- Planning age-appropriate art, sensory, music, movement and learning activities
- Supporting early language, social and emotional development
- Helping children learn to express their needs in healthy ways
- Encouraging independence with meals, cleanup, handwashing and daily routines
- Handling challenging behaviors calmly and consistently
- Completing diaper changes and supporting early toilet-learning readiness when appropriate
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe classroom
- Documenting meals, diapers, naps, activities and important updates in Brightwheel
- Communicating honestly and professionally with families
- Working closely with co-teachers and center leadership
- Following all Ohio childcare licensing requirements and center policies
- Speaking up when you notice a concern or see a process that could be improved
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys working with younger toddlers
- Is patient, energetic and emotionally steady
- Understands that toddlers need both warmth and consistent boundaries
- Can guide behavior without yelling, shaming or becoming easily frustrated
- Shows up on time and can be counted on by the rest of the team
- Communicates respectfully with children, parents, coworkers and leadership
- Takes supervision, cleanliness and classroom safety seriously
- Is comfortable being active throughout the day
- Can give and receive direct, respectful feedback
- Wants to be part of a center where their contribution matters
Previous toddler classroom experience is preferred, but we will also consider candidates with strong childcare experience, the right attitude and a willingness to learn.
Candidates must meet all Ohio childcare employment requirements, including required background checks and training.
Why This Position Matters
The younger toddler years are exciting, but they can also be challenging. Children at this age are developing quickly and depend on the adults around them to model patience, consistency and kindness.
The right teacher will help children feel secure while encouraging them to explore, communicate and become more independent. You will also help families feel confident that their child is understood, cared for and treated with respect.
If you are looking for a position where you can simply clock in and get through the day, this may not be the right fit. If you take pride in your work, enjoy helping toddlers grow and want to be part of building something meaningful in Hilliard, we would like to meet you.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
