American Traveler is seeking an experienced NICU RN for a Level 4 NICU position at a top-ranked children's hospital in San Diego, CA, requiring a minimum of 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience and a CA RN license.

Level 4 NICU at a nationally recognized, Magnet-designated, Level 1 trauma pediatric teaching hospital with 60 staffed beds

Neonatal patient population including surgical newborns, requiring expertise in complex, high-acuity care
-
Experience required with oscillators, conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes

Pre- and post-op care and comfort with line changes involving multiple drips are essential components of the role

Schedule is 3x12-hour shifts, variable or straight nights (7:00–19:00 or 19:00–7:00)

Weekend availability required with full scheduling flexibility; no fixed weekend rotation

Floating required within scope to PICU and CVICU, as well as to NICU satellite campuses (Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy)

Charting performed in Epic

No on-call requirements

Free parking available for travelers

Active CA RN license required; pending license considered if an ETA for posting is available

Current BLS and Advanced NRP certifications required; PALS preferred

Minimum 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required

Level 3 NICU RN candidates may be considered with strong surgical experience from a Level 3 NICU that performs surgeries on newborns — must be noted in your profile

Cardiac experience required

Proficiency with oscillators, conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes required

Own reliable transportation required for floating to satellite campuses

2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration

First-time travelers with verified Level 4 NICU experience are welcome to apply

Mileage is reimbursed when floating from the home base NICU location to satellite campuses

Any color scrubs are acceptable

Maximum of 6 days of RTO permitted for the duration of the contract

Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
