Overview
Hearthstone Manor in Spanish Fork is currently looking to hire a full-time to part-time cook. The cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, appealing and safe meals for residents in accordance with the facility approved menus, dietary requirements and food safety regulations. The cook plays an important role in the health, safety, comfort, and overall quality of life of the residents here at Hearthstone Manor. We work hard to ensure the well being of each resident as this is their home.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and substitutions per request.
- Follow approved menus and recipes
- Follow all therapeutic, allergy and special dietary requirements as directed
- Prepare food in appropriate quantities to meet resident needs while minimizing waste
- Maintain proper food temperature and follow food handling procedures
- Keep kitchen equipment, work areas clean
- Wash, sanitize and properly put away all dishes
- Work cooperatively with all other staff
- Help create a pleasant environment for residents and family members

- Arrive on time and ready to work
- Complete assigned duties
- Follow the approved menus and established kitchen standards
- Practice proper food safety at all times
- Properly shut off and secure cooking equipment when fished using it
- Communicate concerns or problems
- Work as part of a team and assist coworkers as needed
- Treat every resident with respect, kindness and dignity while maintaining their privacy
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to prepare meals according to menus and established recipes
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow dietary instructions, including special diets, allergies and food texture requirement
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a busy kitchen
- Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, coworkers and supervisors
- Must be able to perform physical duties associated with kitchen work including standing for extended periods of time, lifting, bending, reaching and put away grocery orders
- Must be friendly and kind
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
