Duties
- Operate the cash register (POS system) accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts
- Provide friendly and professional customer service by answering questions, assisting with product selection, and offering product demos when appropriate
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, including cash handling, balancing registers, and reconciling daily sales
- Upsell products and promotions to enhance customer satisfaction and increase store revenue
- Stock shelves, organize merchandise displays, and ensure the store is clean and well-merchandised for optimal shopping experience
- Assist in inventory management by participating in stocking activities and monitoring product availability
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred; familiarity with retail math and cash register operations is a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in both bilingual settings (if applicable)
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and balancing registers accurately
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail store product knowledge
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are advantageous for supporting team efforts and supervising new staff
- Ability to perform stocking duties, merchandising tasks, and product demos confidently
- Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail sales transactions enhances your fit for this role
