The Resident Assistant (RA) id a student leader responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging residential community that supports student success.Resident Assistants serve as peer mentors and role models by building relationships with residents, promoting community development, enforcing university housing policies, responding to emergencies, and providing resources and referrals when appropriate. RA's plan and implement educational and social programs, conduct regular community rounds, conducts monthly safety and maintenance inspections, complete administrative documentations, assist with residence hall operations, and participate in training, staff meetings, and departmental initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled as a student at New Mexico Highlands University.
- Must meet and maintain eligibility requirements established by Residence Life and Housing.
- Maintain good academic and student conduct standing throughout employment.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills,
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call duty rotation.
- Successfully complete all required training before and during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous leadership experience in student organizations, residence life, or other campus involvement.
- Previous customer service, mentoring, or peer leadership experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of university resources and student support services.
- Previous experience living in on-campus housing.
