The Brandon Area Soccer Association (BASA) is seeking a Director of Development (DOD) to lead, develop, and execute the club’s coaching and player development strategy across both recreational and competitive programs.
This individual will play a critical leadership role in shaping the future of BASA by establishing a clear training methodology, developing coaches, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience for players at all levels.
The DOD reports directly to the BASA Board of Directors and works closely with program administrators to align coaching, curriculum, and player development with BASA’s long-term vision.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Player Development
- Design, implement, and oversee a club-wide training methodology for U4–U18 (Recreational and United)
- Ensure age-appropriate curriculum progression across all levels
- Maintain consistency in coaching standards and player development philosophy
- Monitor United tryouts and contribute to player placement discussions
- Evaluate player development across age groups and identify areas for improvement
- Plan and execute off-season camps, clinics, and supplemental training opportunities
- Identify opportunities to expand programming and increase player engagement
Coaching Leadership & Development
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain qualified coaches and trainers across all programs
- Coordinate coach education, licensing, and continuing development opportunities
- Assist with coach selection, evaluations and performance feedback
- Address coach related concerns and recommend solutions in collaboration with the Board
- Establish clear expectations and accountability standards for coaches
Operations & Collaboration
- Establish and maintain partnerships with regional professional, collegiate, and high school coaches and
players
- Assist in identifying and securing additional trainers as needed
- Maintain connections with other regional clubs for supplemental training and game play
- Work closely with BASA United and Recreational administrators to align scheduling and programming
- Maintain strong communication across BASA coaches, administrators, and the Board
Strategic Leadership & Reporting
- Promote a positive, inclusive and sportsmanlike culture for players, coaches, and families
- Recommend equipment, training, resources and budget needs related to player and coach development
- Support and elevate the quality of all BASA-led training sessions
- Stay current on coaching best practices and governing body recommendations
- Provide regular reports to the BASA Board
- Contribute to the long-term strategic vision of BASA
What We’re Looking For
- Playing and/or coaching experience (both preferred)
- US Soccer coaching license (D License or higher preferred, or willingness to obtain)
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to develop people
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to think strategically while executing day-to-day operations
- Self-starter who thrives with autonomy and accountability
- Passion for youth development
Requirements
- Full-year (fall, winter, spring, summer seasons), part-time position. Required hours will vary by season
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work evenings and weekends during season
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Clear background check
- SafeSport Certification
