We are looking for a kind, dependable person to provide non-medical help for an older gentleman recovering from heart surgery this summer.
This is not a nursing or medical-care position. The role is mainly to be an extra pair of hands for his wife, helping keep daily life manageable while he recovers and she is unavailable, busy, or simply needs support.
The home is in a quiet rural setting outside Evart, deep in the woods, so reliable transportation and comfort driving on country roads are important.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Being present in the home while he recovers
- Helping with light household tasks, laundry, tidying, and keeping common areas in order
- Assisting with safe movement around the house, as needed
- Helping carry groceries, household items, firewood, or light bags
- Helping with simple meal prep, setting out food, and washing dishes afterward
- Making occasional runs into town for groceries, pharmacy pickups, supplies, or other household needs
- Keeping him company and helping him stay on a comfortable daily routine
- Communicating with his wife if anything seems unusual or he needs additional help
- Helping with simple household or outdoor tasks as recovery allows
This position is a good fit for someone who is:
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable working independently
- Patient, respectful, and calm around older adults
- Practical and able to notice when someone may need a hand
- Comfortable in a quiet rural home setting
- Able to lift and carry ordinary household items
- Comfortable with occasional errands and supply pickups
- Licensed, insured, and has a reliable vehicle
- Willing to undergo a background check, preferred
Important note: This is a non-medical support role. Medication management, bathing, wound care, medical treatment, and other nursing duties are not part of the position.
Schedule and pay:
- Part-time, flexible summer position
- Hours will vary based on recovery needs and his wife’s availability
- Pay based on experience and responsibilities
- Located near Evart, Michigan
Please reply with a brief note about yourself, your availability this summer, whether you have reliable transportation, and any experience helping older adults, families, or households.
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
