We’re currently seeking a Brewer to join our San Marcos production team. The ideal candidate brings both brewhouse and cellar experience, a strong work ethic, and attention to detail in every stage of the brewing process. This person will collaborate closely with the Lead Brewer to produce world-class beer and maintain the high standards that define Tarantula Hill Brewing Co.
This full-time position operates on a 4/10 schedule (40 hours per week), with occasional weekend availability for events or production needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Competently operate 15bbl direct fire Premier Brewhouse & Cellar equipment to process brews according to THill standards including, but not limited to the items below:
- Brewhouse operation: Milling, Mashing, Lautering, Boiling, Whirlpooling, Knockout, Grain out, Brewhouse Vessel CIP, Keeping accurate records and working with the lead brewer to troubleshoot any issues.
- Cellar Related operations: Filtering beer, Checking Gravities/Monitoring fermentation (Including Glycol Controls), Capping/Chilling/Dry-hopping, recording fermentations, Reading BBT levels and recording, Checking DO and CO in beer. Reporting any issues to the lead brewer.
- Packaging operation: Intermittently assist with packaging operations including operating our 5 head CODI canning line and 8 head keg filler.
- Quality Assurance Operations: Gravity samples, Process Sampling, Taste Panel Effluent processing as it relates to the above operations.
- Record Keeping and communication: Properly fill out Daily Record of Activities, accurately and legibly.
- Assisting with Inventory for daily production needs: Monitors and reports to lead brewer to keep pars for brewing water, CO tanks, chemicals and other brewing materials and necessities.
- Perform a variety of sanitation and cleaning tasks: Fermenter, BBT and other tank CIP/Scrub/Sanitation, floor scrubbing, Mill and tank cleaning, sweeping, cleaning hoses, parts cleaning, and other housekeeping tasks.
- Perform safe operation of material handling equipment for the purpose of receiving, sorting, counting, storing, staging, picking, locating, relocating, and delivering materials with accuracy.
- Perform technical preventative maintenance checks (PM’s) as assigned by superiors and escalates issues appropriatly when needed
- Ability to troubleshoot technical operational issues and escalates issues appropriately when needed
- Maintain safety within the brewery at all times.

Qualifications

- Education: High School Diploma or GED required, Brewing education or science related Bachelor’s degree desired.
- Experience: Minimum 2 – 3 + years of related experience and/or training in a production brewing environment, with an emphasis on wort production & cellar tasks
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Certificates, Licenses or Registrations: Brewing certificate or Cicerone program certificates a plus
- Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.
- Experience with EKOS brewing software a plus

Work Environment
