Position: Accounting Clerk
Work schedule: Part-time, 25 Hrs/Wk*
*ineligible for full benefits
Eleven paid holidays a year
Wage: $19.50 - $23.00 /hr. DOE
Days & hours of work: M - F, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm (flexible)
Location: Administration Offices - 8665 Gibbs Dr., Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92123
Classification: Non-exempt
General Description: Under the direction of the Controller, you are responsible for all accounts payable and receivable, client billings and collections.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable:
- Process invoices accurately and timely following internal & AP procedures.
- Enter and reconcile transactions in accounting software.
- Prepare weekly check run.
- Audit and process monthly credit card bills.
- Maintain vendor records including digital documentation.
- Assist with invoice discrepancy resolution by communicating with vendors & departments.
- 1099s maintenance and preparation.
- Vendor relations.
Accounts Receivable:
- Process and monitor AR transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies and invoice issues.
- Enter invoices into accounting system and customer billing software.
- Process and post customer payments.
- Make check and cash deposits as needed.
- Prepare month end reports on program billing and statistics.
Financial Reports:
- Assist with internal and external financial reports to Grantors, Auditors and CFO.
- Assist with month end closing.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for petty cash and distributing facility keys.
- Answering phones.
- Retrieving and sorting mail.
- Assisting with fundraising event check-in and donations as needed.
- Maintaining USPS postage machine.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Associates degree or High School diploma plus relevant experience and certification. College courses in accounting a plus.
- 2 years+ of accounting experience, not for profit experience a plus.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience in accounting procedures and systems.
- Knowledge of accounts payable and receivable, billings and collections.
- Knowledge of client billing system for Regional Center/Department of Rehabilitation a plus.
- Immediate and advanced skills in Excel.
- General knowledge of accounts payable and receivable software, including QuickBooks Online and Sage.
- Passionate about working for a non-profit committed to helping people with disabilities.
Other Skills:
- Ability to prepare, read and understand financial reports.
- Ability to explain financial information to staff.
- Ability to respond professionally to inquiries and complaints from vendors, state, etc.
- Ability to define problems, correct information recommend solutions.
- Ability to work with deadlines and interruptions.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work independently.
Work Environment:
- Office setting.
- Low to moderate noise level.
- Must have access to reliable transportation to attend meetings, make deposits and complete mailings.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and provide proof of auto liability insurance.
