Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) efficiently.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates with precision.
- Support physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures in outpatient clinics or hospital settings.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Perform basic clinical tasks including medication administration under supervision, wound dressing changes, and sample collection for laboratory testing.
- Document clinical notes accurately using medical terminology and ICD coding standards for billing and record-keeping purposes.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment adhering to safety protocols in both outpatient clinics and inpatient units.
- Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and coordinating referrals within various specialties like geriatrics or internal medicine.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and pharmacology essential for accurate patient assessment and documentation.A
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically across all age groups including geriatrics and pediatric populations.
- Ability to perform intake procedures efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in vital signs recording and medical history collection.
- Knowledge of ICD coding for diagnosis classification to support billing accuracy and compliance.
- Familiarity with emergency medicine protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications like Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus.
