Aircraft Composite Mechanic
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:30 PM – 12:00 AM)
Location: Wichita, KS
Pay Range: $40–$43/hr
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Composite Mechanic to support aircraft structure repair and composite fabrication activities in a fast-paced aerospace environment. This role requires hands-on experience with advanced composite repair techniques, structural components, and aircraft manufacturing/maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication, repair, and rework of composite (non-metallic) aircraft components.
- Execute advanced composite repair techniques, including:
- Scarfing and taper sanding.
- Ply identification and ply mapping (20+ plies).
- High-contour composite repairs.
- Work on structural components such as fuselage stringers, frames, spars, and wing assemblies.
- Conduct vacuum bagging, double bagging, hot bonding, and curing processes (up to 375°F).
- Perform repairs in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and approved repair instructions.
- Verify dimensions using precision measurement tools and perform inspections to ensure compliance.
- Document and report non-conforming conditions (NCRs).
- Maintain compliance with all quality, safety, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in composite repair and fabrication within an aerospace or aviation environment.
- Knowledge of bonding techniques, thermal curing processes, and vacuum bagging procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
- Experience with MRB processes, inspections, and quality assurance requirements.
- Structural Composite Repair Certification preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship standards.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel domestically or internationally, if required.
- Must comply with applicable drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Ability to pass all required pre-employment screenings and site-specific qualifications.
Job Highlights
