Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and infection prevention management according to aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and maintaining a clear operative field.
- Take and develop dental x-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and dental x-ray machines while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Manage patient records within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic, or other patient management software to ensure accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with patient care before, during, and after treatments to ensure comfort and safety.
- Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures to maintain clinic hygiene standards in accordance with healthcare infection prevention policies.
- Support the dental reception team by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and providing excellent customer service to enhance overall patient experience.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or equivalent for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Competence in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other medical imaging tools safely and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to pediatric patients and their families.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant coursework preferred; additional training in pediatric dentistry or oral surgery is a plus.
