Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and health status regularly, reporting any changes to nursing staff promptly
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed protocols and maintain detailed medication records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Support residents with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and ensuring proper nutrition while respecting individual dietary needs
- Engage residents in social activities and recreational programs to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and common spaces
- Document resident interactions, behavior management efforts, and care activities thoroughly to ensure continuity of care and compliance with regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living or long-term care environments, including nursing home or retirement home settings
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general
- Strong understanding of first aid procedures, emergency response protocols, and medication administration standards
- Excellent caregiving skills with a focus on personal care home standards and group home experience preferred
- Effective communication skills for working collaboratively with residents, families, and healthcare teams
- HHA / CNA is a plus!
