Northern Illinois Medical Associates (NIMA) is seeking a full-time or part-time Medical Assistant to support our growing Concierge Family Medicine practice. This position will work between our Sycamore and Geneva, Illinois offices. Must be available for the following hours: Mondays 9am-2pm (if full time preferred, Mondays are 9-5pm) in Sycamore, Tuesdays 9am-5pm in Geneva, Wednesdays 9am-5pm in Sycamore, Thursdays 9-5pm in Geneva, Fridays are flexible.

The Medical Assistant will work closely with the physician to ensure the clinical and administrative operations of the practice run smoothly and efficiently. This position offers the opportunity to develop a broader range of clinical skills and perform more extensive health screenings and assessments than are typically performed in a traditional primary care Medical Assistant role.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare patients and examination rooms for office visits.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and other relevant patient information.
- Assist the physician with examinations, procedures, and in-office testing.
- Perform injections, EKGs, ear lavage, and other clinical procedures as directed.
- Perform a variety of preventive health screenings and functional assessments, including: Hearing screening, Vision screening, Ankle-brachial index (ABI) screening, Pulmonary function testing (PFT), Grip strength testing, Mini-Cog cognitive screening, and Other screening assessments as appropriate.
- Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection as appropriate.
- Accurately document screening and testing results.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies.
- Anticipate physician needs and assist in maintaining an efficient patient flow.
- Provide a welcoming, professional, and personalized experience for patients.
- Assist with patient follow-up and communication as directed by the physician.
- Perform phone triage and respond appropriately to patient calls and messages within the scope of training and practice protocols.
- Notify patients of laboratory and diagnostic results as directed by the provider.
- Assist with medication-related tasks.
- Assist with referrals, prior authorizations, forms, and other patient care coordination.
- Process incoming and outgoing faxes and other clinical correspondence.
- Assist with medical record documentation and electronic health record tasks.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and practice policies.
Concierge Medicine Focus
Working in a concierge practice requires a strong emphasis on patient service, attention to detail, and relationship-building. The Medical Assistant will be an important part of the patient's experience and will be expected to:

- Communicate effectively with patients and anticipate their needs whenever possible.

Additional Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, management, and staff.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, pharmacies, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain clinical areas, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist with inventory management and supply ordering as needed.
- Participate in practice quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous clinical experience required.
- Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Experience in an outpatient primary care or family medicine setting preferred.
- Experience performing clinical screening tests and diagnostic procedures preferred.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) preferred.
- Strong computer and typing skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to accurately perform and document clinical screenings and testing.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work efficiently while maintaining accuracy.
- Professional demeanor, conduct, and work ethic.
- Reliable, mature, and accountable.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work at both the Sycamore and Geneva offices as needed.
- Must be available during the physician's scheduled working hours.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Additional healthcare education or certification preferred.
