Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of treatment procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, implants and surgery treatments.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Manage patient records using Dentrix while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, treatment planning, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral hygiene.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Support the dental reception area by managing patient management software, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks as needed.
Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with dental equipment operation, including X-ray machines, intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and other clinical tools.
- Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and healthcare infection control practices.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with general dentistry procedures as well as specialized areas like endodontics and oral surgery.
- Ability to perform dental x-ray imaging safely following radiation safety guidelines; familiarity with medical imaging is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for working effectively with patients of all ages and collaborating seamlessly with the dental team.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of all medical records and patient information.
- Experience working in a fast-paced dental clinic environment with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
