Job Overview
The creative arts therapist is responsible for providing counseling and supportive services to children and families affected by domestic and sexual violence. This is part-time position with evening hours, and is scheduled for 10 hours per week for a one-year term.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct group and individual counseling sessions for children and families.
- Develop group and individual treatment plans and objectives.
- Plan and implement counseling interventions such as crisis intervention, developmentally specific interventions and preventative actions.
- Maintain accurate and complete records for all clients including progress notes and referral information.
- Provide individual in-person/phone consultation with parents/guardians.
- Conduct in-person intakes with children and parents.
- Attend and participate in supervision and DV training as required.
- Collaborate with staff members on implementation of services.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with organization policies and ethical standards, ensuring privacy in communications, documentation and interactions.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in professional counseling or related field.
- LPC/LAC/LCSW or comparable license.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in counseling with children and families.
- Registration/board certification by the appropriate association for the creative arts specialization.
- Trauma informed and/or trauma intervention trained (TFCBT/EMDR).
- Driver’s license in good standing.
- Evening availablity (4-9p) is required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to work in a confidential office environment; work requires maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and emotional resilience.
- Perform essential physical tasks that include standing, walking, bending, and the ability to frequently move throughout the work area as needed.
- Perform tasks on a computer with the ability to perform sedentary work for extended periods.
- This role requires extended periods of concentration, managing emotionally intense conversations, and responding to clients in real time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditions.
Pay: $50.00 per hour
