As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) who is passionate about working with individuals, adults, children, or couples to join our team on a contract basis (60/40 split). The ideal candidate must be open to integrating faith-based approaches only when requested by the client or caregiver.
Job Description
We are seeking a registered intern who is passionate about supporting individuals navigating childhood trauma, emotional regulation challenges, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, behavioral concerns, and life transitions. The ideal candidate is developmentally informed, trauma-sensitive, and skilled at helping clients build emotional awareness and resilience.
You will have the flexibility to design a caseload that aligns with your expertise while providing therapy that may integrate faith-based principles only when requested by the client or caregiver.
This role includes a hybrid model, offering Telehealth and in-person sessions in the office. Interns must reside in Broward County or the surrounding area to accommodate in-person needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy or couples therapy via secure Telehealth and in-office sessions.
- Develop and implement individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Utilize trauma-informed, attachment-based, and evidence-based interventions.
- Participate in required clinical supervision in accordance with Florida licensing board standards.
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Florida registration as an RMHCI (Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern).
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a CACREP-accredited or equivalent counseling program.
- Experience or coursework in childhood trauma, attachment-based work, relationship concerns, or play-based approaches preferred.
- Comfort integrating faith-based principles when requested by clients or caregivers.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Must reside in Broward County or surrounding areas.
- Ability to provide Telehealth and in-office sessions.
- Ability to work independently with professionalism and integrity.
Supervision
Our founder, Lory Toussaint Burton, LMHC, is a Florida Qualified Supervisor. Qualified supervision toward licensure is available for interns who need it.
