Duties
- Safely operate a variety of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with transportation regulations.
- Manage route driving responsibilities with precision, adhering to schedules and traffic laws to optimize delivery times.
- Secure freight properly for transport, ensuring load stability during transit to prevent damage or accidents.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for compliance and operational purposes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients regarding delivery schedules, delays or issues encountered during routes.
Experience
- Proven truck driving experience with a focus on commercial driving environments.
- Skilled in operating manual transmission vehicles with confidence and precision.
- Experience handling diverse freight types including refrigerated goods, flatbed loads, tankers, and other specialized trailers.
- Familiarity with load & unload procedures as well as route planning for efficient deliveries.
- Ability to operate auxiliary equipment such as forklifts when necessary for loading or unloading cargo.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to trucking operations including DOT regulations and vehicle maintenance standards.
- Prior experience with delivery driver roles involving freight handling, route driving, and vehicle inspections is highly preferred.
