We are a law firm that primarily handles insurance-defense work on behalf of insurance carriers and their insureds, although we handle matters outside of those realms from time to time.
We are in need of a paralegal who can work primarily with a single partner, but may also need to collaborate with multiple attorneys on more complex files. The paralegal may also be assigned to an associate attorney in the future.
The applicant should be skilled in litigation case management, drafting pleadings and discovery requests and responses, and be able to communicate effectively internally and with clients. We have a preference for a candidate who knows medical terminology and can competently prepare summaries of medical records and create damages spreadsheets (familiarity with Robinson v. Bates is a plus). We anticipate command of Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as at least a working knowledge of using Excel.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and works well with others. The candidate should have knowledge of civil litigation.
While our preference is for a candidate with an insurance-defense background, we are willing to consider candidates with a history of civil litigation and a willingness to learn the necessities of the job.
We offer salaries competitive for the field of work, paid time off, the ability to flex time, health insurance, and a 401(k). The anticipation is that the candidate will be on site.
