Stratosphere Quality is seeking experienced Quality Inspectors to support a manufacturing quality project in the Plainfield / West Indianapolis area. This is a hands-on, floor-based inspection role in a small industrial shop environment where attention to detail, safety, and quality decision-making are critical.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who enjoy being active on the production floor, working directly with materials and finished products, and helping ensure customer requirements are met before product moves forward. Candidates with experience in metals, coating, plating, electrocoating, or industrial manufacturing environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
This role offers long-term potential, with the possibility of contract-to-hire or direct placement based on performance, attendance, business needs, and overall fit.
As a Quality Inspector, you will perform inspection and verification activities to help ensure incoming materials, in-process work, and finished products meet required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:

Perform visual, dimensional, and final inspections on materials and finished products.

Check parts and materials for surface defects, coating concerns, thickness, uniformity, damage, or other quality issues.

Use gauges, inspection tools, and quality equipment to support product verification.

Review routing tags, production documentation, traceability information, and process paperwork for accuracy.

Confirm that customer and internal quality requirements are being followed.

Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.

Identify and communicate nonconforming or questionable product.

Support hold/release decisions, containment, sorting, and reinspection activities as needed.

Use basic computer systems to locate work instructions, forms, specifications, and quality records.

Assist with material movement, counting, weighing, staging, or flow of product when needed.

Follow all safety, quality, and site procedures.

Work safely around industrial machinery, hazardous chemicals, and high-voltage/high-amperage processes.

Support overtime needs when required.
The right candidate will be dependable, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Required qualifications:

Previous quality inspection experience in manufacturing, industrial production, metals, coating, plating, finishing, or a similar environment.

Ability to identify visual and measurable product defects.

Experience using basic inspection tools, gauges, or measuring equipment.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, process sheets, inspection requirements, and quality procedures.

Comfortable documenting inspection results accurately.

Basic computer skills.

Strong attendance, reliability, and work ethic.

Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime as needed.

Commitment to working safely around equipment, chemicals, and industrial processes.

High school diploma or GED preferred.
The following experience is helpful but not required:

XRF inspection experience.

Experience with coating thickness checks or material uniformity testing.

Final inspection, hold/release, containment, or rework verification experience.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.

Experience with SPC or basic understanding of process variation.

Blueprint reading or GD&T knowledge.

Forklift experience or comfort moving materials in a manufacturing setting.
Candidates should be able to work in an active manufacturing environment and perform floor-based inspection duties throughout the shift. This may include standing, walking, bending, lifting, moving materials, and working near production equipment.

Ability to lift or move up to 55 pounds as needed.

Ability to assist with material movement using appropriate equipment.

Ability to work safely in an environment involving machinery, chemicals, and industrial processes.
