Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate with precision and professionalism.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining processes clearly and ensuring comfort.
- Support physicians and healthcare providers during various procedures, including medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic life support (BLS) protocols.
- Manage medical documentation accurately, including ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and recordkeeping.
- Conduct clinical tasks across multiple specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), and trauma centers.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety standards and hospital protocols.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program or institution.
- Proven experience in outpatient clinics or hospital settings; experience in Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology relevant to diverse specialties including dermatology, emergency medicine, geriatrics, and surgical environments.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and data entry; proficiency in ICD coding is preferred.
- Ability to perform clinical duties such as taking X-rays (radiography), administering medications under supervision, and supporting inpatient care routines.
- Strong patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations across outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications like Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are a plus.
- Experience working in hospital environments including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers is advantageous.
