We are seeking an energetic, organized, and hospitality-focused Host/Hostess to be the first point of contact for our guests and help create memorable experiences from the moment they walk through the door.
Position Summary
The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a warm first impression, managing reservations and guest flow, and ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued. This role serves as the bridge between guests, servers, management, and the kitchen to ensure a seamless dining experience.
The ideal candidate is friendly, poised, organized, and enjoys engaging with people in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
ResponsibilitiesGuest Experience
- Greet every guest with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality.
- Manage guest arrivals, reservations, and waitlists.
- Escort guests to their tables and provide menus.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the culture and values of Malendrina.
- Recognize returning guests and help build relationships with regular patrons.
- Address guest concerns professionally and communicate issues to management when necessary.
Reservations & Seating Management
- Manage reservation platforms and seating charts.
- Monitor table turns and coordinate seating to support smooth service flow.
- Communicate effectively with servers and management regarding guest needs and table availability.
- Accurately estimate wait times and keep guests informed.
Guest Communication
- Answer phones and respond to reservation inquiries.
- Assist guests with questions regarding menu offerings, wine selections, events, and wine club memberships.
- Promote upcoming events, wine dinners, and special experiences.
- Assist with collecting guest information for marketing and membership opportunities.
Dining Room Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entry area.
- Assist with resetting tables as needed.
- Help support servers and other front-of-house staff during busy service periods.
- Ensure menus, wine lists, and promotional materials are clean and current.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, retail, or customer service experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Ability to remain calm and friendly during busy service periods.
- Familiarity with reservation systems is a plus.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in wine, food, and hospitality.
- Experience with OpenTable, Resy, Toast, or similar reservation platforms.
- Experience in upscale casual dining, wine bars, or boutique hospitality environments.
