Position Description
The Dean of Students manages day-to-day student discipline, behavior systems, and safety protocols. The Dean ensures that student expectations are consistently upheld through clear consequences, restorative interventions, and proactive supervision. This role works closely with staff, students, and families to ensure students feel supported and accountable.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to daily discipline referrals
-
Assign consequences and follow up with staff

Contact families regarding incidents and resolutions
-
Prepare and deliver suspension letters and alternate education assignments
-
Support MDRs and formal hearings as assigned
-
Schedule and lead return-from-suspension meetings
-
Facilitate PSR circles and mediations
-
Participate in weekly meetings with PSR, ISS, and social work staff
-
Monitor and adjust student behavior plans
-
Support advisory and SEL programming in collaboration with AP
-
Supervise halls, lunch, transitions, and bathrooms
-
Enforce dress code and morning arrival routines
-
Conduct locker and bag checks as needed
-
Assist with phone cart and student search processes
-
Support safety drills and emergency procedures (CIRT team role)

Prepare and send out detention lists
-
Help coordinate field trips and culture-related events
-
Attend and supervise after-school activities
-
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal

The Dean of Students ensures the school remains a physically and emotionally safe place for students to grow, by holding students accountable while maintaining restorative and supportive practices. This role strengthens the daily conditions that support teaching and learning.
