Accountant
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Finance/Controller, the Accountant performs various accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries and financial statement preparation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: Minimum of an Associate Degree in Accounting. Bachelor Degree preferred.
Experience: 2-5 years accounting experience, healthcare experience preferred

Reports To: Director of Finance/Controller
SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used: Personal computer, calculator, photocopier, fax machine
Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity with some lifting, extended periods of data entry and computer work
Working Conditions: Temperature controlled environment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs General Ledger Maintenance.
- May include reconciliations of individual general ledger accounts, creation of journal entries, review and post general ledger batches from subsidiary ledgers (ex: BAR, MM, Payroll). Assist with month-end closing activities for preparation of monthly financial statements and schedules.
Maintain files for various general ledger accounts, including miscellaneous accounts receivable, community programs, etc.
Performs accounting duties for other entities.
- Accounting responsibilities may include NMC Auxiliary, etc.
Organization-wide daily collection of cash activity and replenishment of petty cash. Prepare cash deposits, cash-related journal entries, and maintain internal cash-clearing reconciliation. Reconcile bank receipts and variances with appropriate departments within the organization.
Prepares monthly bank account reconciliations and/or balance sheet account reconciliations for review, which may include resolution of variances and preparation of correcting adjustments.
Assists in other Fiscal Services projects as needed.
- Assists in performing periodic physical inventories of fixed assets and reconciling results to the detail fixed asset listing, and assists in periodic petty cash counts.
