Position Overview
We're hiring Licensed Practical Nurse with OBGYN experience to work directly alongside our provider to provide excellent and comprehensive care to women. This is a hands-on clinical role where you'll room patients, assist with exams and procedures, and coordinate follow-up care. Our practice provides care to the underserved Vietnamese and Spanish-speaking patients thus we preferred bilingual candidates (Vietnamese and Spanish).
Key Responsibilities
Clinical
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, height/weight, and update medical history
- Document chief complaints, medications, allergies, and social history in the EHR
- Perform urine dips, urine pregnancy tests, point-of-care testing, and specimen collection
- Assist provider with pelvic exams, Pap smears, colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, IUD/Nexplanon insertions and removals, LEEP and OB visits
- Perform and document fetal heart tones (Doppler) or NST during prenatal visits
- Set up exam and procedure rooms; ensure instruments, trays, and supplies are ready
- Administer injections and vaccinations per provider orders (Depo-Provera, Rhogam, etc.)
- Clean and turn over rooms between patients per infection control standards
- Autoclave and maintain instruments; monitor sterilization logs
Patient communication and coordination
- Provide patient education on prenatal care, contraception, postpartum recovery, and gynecologic conditions
- Triage patient phone calls and portal messages; escalate to provider as appropriate
- Call in prescriptions and refills per provider orders
- Coordinate referrals to specialists, imaging, MFM, and hospital
- Process prior authorizations for procedures, medications, and imaging
- Review and follow up on lab and imaging results per provider direction
- Assist with obstetric care coordination (prenatal labs, ultrasound scheduling, glucose tolerance testing, GBS screening, hospital pre-registration)
Administrative and compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely EHR documentation
- Manage medication samples, medication logs, and controlled substance records
- Monitor supply inventory and reorder as needed
- Maintain OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA compliance in all clinical activities
- Assist with quality assurance and clinical workflow improvements
Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Georgia RN license in good standing
- Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA)
- Minimum 1 year of recent OBGYN experience (private practice, women's health clinic, or L&D setting)
- Proficiency general computer skills
- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills
- Working knowledge of OBGYN medical terminology, procedures, and common medications
- Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable attendance
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of OBGYN experience
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EHR
- Experience with prior authorizations and insurance verification
- Experience with prenatal care coordination and high-risk pregnancy workflows
- Prior experience in a small or solo private practice
Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for extended periods throughout the shift
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 lbs
- Assisting patients on and off exam tables
- Manual dexterity for procedures, injections, and instrument handling
- Ability to hear, see, and speak clearly for patient assessment and communication
- Ability to wear PPE (gloves, mask, eye protection) throughout the day
Schedule
- Full-time or Part-time, Monday–Friday
- [8:00 AM – 5:00 PM] with a one-hour lunch
- No evenings or major holidays
- Occasional flexibility required for practice needs
