Pay: $980/week paid biweekly ($600/week living stipend + $380 additional member benefit)
Status: This is a full-time, temporary AmeriCorps National Service position.

Appalachian Conservation Corps:
Our Individual Placement program works to connect young people to conservation service work across Appalachia and neighboring communities in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, DC, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. ACC is a program of Conservation Legacy, a nationwide network of conservation organizations.
As an AmeriCorps program, participants commit to a term of service at their placement site in order to gain hands-on experience and a variety of benefits to help them succeed in achieving their career goals. ACC welcomes national applicants, but also emphasizes the engagement of local individuals who represent the communities in which they serve.
The Cultural Landscapes Inventory (CLI) Individual Placement will support Preservation Services. Preservation Services promotes the preservation of cultural landscapes and historic structures through research, planning, and stewardship to parks and historic properties in the National Park Service (NPS) National Capital Region.
The successful candidate will work with and assist historical landscape architects, historians, and other preservation professionals to complete Cultural Landscapes Inventories (CLIs) located in a variety of National Park sites in the National Capital Region (District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia). This internship opportunity is located in Washington, DC, with options for a hybrid work schedule, and will focus on office work and field documentation.
The internship involves researching the landscape history and associated physical development of a historic property; site visits and field work to document existing conditions with photographs, GNSS, maps, and graphics; analyzing landscape features; preparing CLI updates; entering information into the Cultural Resources Inventory System (CRIS) database; and performing other duties as assigned. This opportunity will allow the intern to learn about and participate in a preservation program by working directly with Federal cultural resource professionals in the National Capital Region – Preservation Services.
Housing is NOT provided for this position. We are seeking candidates who residents of the surrounding area.

Site investigations in parks may require some physical exertion including walking over uneven terrain, long periods of standing, and exposure to elements such as sun, rain, and humidity
To qualify, you must be between the ages of 18 and 30 (or 35 if a US Veteran), and a US citizen that has received a high school diploma or GED. All offers of employment are conditional upon completion of an acceptable check of the National Sex Offender Public Registry and federal criminal background check. $3,697.50 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award upon successful completion of 900 hour minimum service term (award can be used for paying off federal student loans or paying tuition for a Title IV accredited college)
$1200 professional development and travel reimbursement fund
Professional development opportunities (mentorship, resume support, alumni listserv, etc.) and exposure to natural resource career paths
Evaluation and Reporting:
As an AmeriCorps member, performance will be evaluated on whether the member has completed the required number of hours, the member has satisfactorily completed assignments, and if the member has met other performance criteria that were clearly communicated at the beginning of the term of service. Reporting requirements include, but are not limited to, bi-weekly timesheets and accomplishment tracking.
