Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced CNC Chucker Programmer / Leadman to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for programming, setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing CNC chucker machines while providing daily direction and technical support to machine operators and setup personnel.
The ideal candidate will have strong CNC chucker machining experience, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to lead a team while maintaining production, quality, and efficiency standards.
Responsibilities
- Program, set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC chucker machines.
- Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs for new and existing jobs.
- Perform complete machine setups, including tooling, workholding, offsets, and program prove-outs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Determine proper tooling, inserts, speeds, feeds, offsets, and machining processes.
- Perform new-job setups, first-piece runs, and production prove-outs.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, dimensional, and production issues.
- Make program and offset adjustments as necessary to maintain part specifications.
- Monitor tooling and make adjustments or replacements to maintain quality and productivity.
- Improve cycle times, tool life, setup times, and overall machine efficiency.
- Ensure parts meet required dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
- Use precision measuring equipment to inspect and verify completed parts.
- Provide technical guidance and daily direction to CNC chucker operators and setup personnel.
- Train and mentor employees on proper setups, tooling, machine operation, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Help prioritize jobs and coordinate workflow to meet production schedules and delivery requirements.
- Monitor production and quickly address issues that may cause downtime, scrap, or delays.
- Work closely with Quality, Production, and Management to resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
- Maintain organized programs, setup sheets, tooling information, and related documentation.
- Promote and enforce company safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping standards.
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement within the CNC Chucker department.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC chucker machining/programming experience preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience programming and setting up CNC chucker machines.
- Previous lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming and G-code.
- Ability to independently take a job from blueprint/programming through setup and production.
- Strong knowledge of turning operations, tooling, inserts, workholding, feeds and speeds, and offsets.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
- Experience producing tight-tolerance precision components.
- Proficient with micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, thread gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to identify and correct problems related to tooling, dimensions, machine performance, and part quality.
- Ability to train, guide, and communicate effectively with machine operators and setup personnel.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage multiple jobs and priorities in a production environment.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a strong, experienced CNC Chucker Programmer who can take ownership of the department. This person should be comfortable working directly on the machines while also leading the team and keeping production moving.
The right candidate will be able to troubleshoot difficult jobs, improve setups and cycle times, maintain quality standards, reduce scrap and downtime, and ensure operators have the support they need to successfully run production.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates should have extensive hands-on CNC chucker setup and programming experience and be capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
