We are seeking a friendly, motivated, and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing eye-care practice. The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with patients, performing preliminary testing, and helping the doctor provide efficient, high-quality eye care.
Experience in optometry or ophthalmology is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities
● Welcome and room patients in a professional and friendly manner
● Check in patients and assist with scheduling, confirming appointments and handling calls
● Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, including:
● Visual acuity
● Auto-refraction/keratometry
● Tonometry
● OCT
● Optic nerve/retinal imaging
● Visual field testing
● Pachymetry and other testing as needed
● Perform preliminary testing and assist with comprehensive eye examinations
● Accurately enter patient information, testing results, medications, and medical history into the EHR
● Prepare examination rooms and maintain clean, organized equipment
● Help coordinate referrals and obtain outside medical records when necessary
● Assist with patient scheduling and other front-office duties when needed
● Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
● Provide excellent customer service and contribute to a positive patient experience
Qualifications
● Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician, optometric technician, medical assistant, or similar position preferred
● Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment is a plus
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Comfortable working with patients of different ages and abilities
● Detail-oriented and able to accurately document clinical information
● Reliable, professional, and able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment
● Comfortable learning new technology and EHR systems
● Bilingual candidates are a plus
