SUMMARY
The Alton School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as High School Volunteer Coaches. This role is essential in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to student-athletes, fostering a positive and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sport, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to the development of young athletes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in planning and conducting practices and training sessions that enhance athletic skills and teamwork.
- Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes on techniques, strategies, and game rules.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Monitor student-athletes’ academic performance and encourage a balance between athletics and academics.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Support the head coach in organizing and managing competitions, including transportation and logistics.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and games.
- Uphold and enforce school policies and regulations regarding athletics and student conduct.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the athletic department.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in coaching or athletics preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the sport being coached, including rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of students, parents, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- Must pass a background check and comply with all district policies and procedures.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for practices and games.
