Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver with flatbed experience, to join our team as a local loader and unloader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting brass & copper rod on a flatbed trailer, with tarps and side kits. Pulling trailer from our yard, to customer site, 2-mile away. There you would, un-tarp, dump and reload material, tarp and return trailer to our yard, averaging 4 - 5 trailers per day. This position is part-time and pays hourly with time and a half paid after 8 hours. Work schedule will vary between 2 -3 days per week, and 7 - 8 hours per day, depending on customer need. Candidate must be able to handle, tarping, strapping and side kits. Must have a strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and customer service.
Responsibilities
- Operate truck and pull flatbed trailers, with side-kits and tarps.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Safely load and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling of goods, strapping and securement.
- Navigate assigned routes efficiently while adhering to delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding any issues or delays.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on the vehicle and report any mechanical issues.
Skills
- Proficient in operating commercial vehicles with manual transmission.
- Experience in route driving with a strong understanding of navigation systems.
- Ability to assist in loading and unloading cargo, assure proper load securement and breakdown of side kits, and handle tarping.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to transportation and delivery services.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining delivery records.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
