AIT, LLC is seeking experienced Marine Electricians. These are temp to hire opportunities in Norfolk, VA. As a Marine Electrician, you will be essential in maintaining and repairing electrical systems on marine vessels. Must have knowledge and experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment on board vessels and in shipyard facilities.
DUTIES:
· Perform all duties required to layout, fabricate, and install electrical wiring, coaxial cable, or fiber optic onboard Navy vessels.
· Responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
· Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
· Repair and replace cables/connectors.
· Install, maintain, and repair AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting, and alarm circuits.
· Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment and cables.
· Identify various cables by cable types, number of conductors, and wire size.
· Perform removal and installation of cables found overhead, along bulkheads, or under the deck.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be a Marine Electrician with 3-5 years relevant work experience in ship repair onboard US Navy ships and facilities.
· Must be a U.S. Citizen.
· Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
· Must be DBIDS eligible.
· Must be familiar with Navy Standard items.
· Must have experience with multi-pin copper connector; MCT qualification per Navy Standard Item 009-73 (MIL-STD-2003-5) preferred.
· Ability to read, understand, and follow work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams.
· Must have knowledge of laying out and installing equipment and cabling.
· Must have knowledge of the use of test equipment.
· Familiar with various engine room and ship’s electrical systems.
· Familiar with OSHA regulations relative to the ship repair industry.
· Must have a keen attention to detail and be quality driven.
· Must have reliable transportation.
TOOL REQUIREMENTS:
Trade associated tools are expected to be provided and maintained by the employee.
SALARY:
Starting $25-$34, based on experience
