Job Overview - General Summary:
The Retail & Inventory Manager is responsible for the daily dispensary operations, staff, customer service, inventory management, scheduling, compliance, product management and administration of the dispensary to maximize profitability, productivity, minimize cost and maintain quality while providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily dispensary operations and SOP implementation.
- Monitor sales, profitability, and operational performance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional retail environment.
- In-depth knowledge of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and industry trends.
- Strong understanding of local and state regulations governing cannabis sales and compliance.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Point of Sale (POS) software, METRC and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive/SharePoint).
- Ensure compliance with Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission regulations.
- Manage and oversee Metrc seed-to-sale tracking and inventory reporting.
- Maintain records required by regulators and support inspections and audits.
- Verify compliance with packaging, labeling, testing, recall, and product handling requirements.
- Conduct routine compliance audits and staff training.
- Manage receiving, storage, transfers, and inventory reconciliation.
- Perform cycle counts and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor shrinkage, waste, and product loss prevention.
- Create schedules and manage labor costs.
- Review and approve timesheets and payroll submissions.
- Drive revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns.
- Monitor KPIs and coach staff on sales performance.
- Manage budgets and expenses.
- Oversee cash controls, deposits, and reporting.
- Analyze business performance and prepare management reports.
- Ensure surveillance and security compliance.
- Investigate incidents and coordinate corrective action.
- Maintain workplace safety standards.
Qualifications - Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, retail management, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in a management role within the cannabis industry or in a highly regulated retail environment – (minimum 4 years).
- In-depth knowledge of cannabis products, strains, consumption methods, and industry trends.
- Strong understanding of local and state regulations governing cannabis sales and compliance.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Point of Sale (POS) software, METRC and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneDrive/SharePoint).
