Westmoreland County Community College is looking for qualified candidates for a regular part-time (grant funded) Social Worker at our Youngwood campus.

This is a regular part-time grant funded position (up to 19 hours/week) and hours will vary based on student needs.

The primary function of the Social Worker is to serve as a liaison between Westmoreland students and college and community resources. This individual utilizes professional training and experiences to provide support services and workshops to the entire student body, including those at all Center locations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Utilizes professional social work skills with students on either an individual or group basis.
- Develops a strong working knowledge of the specific college policies, procedures, and practices applicable to student support services and to the responsibilities of the position.
- Executes assigned ongoing responsibilities in the Student Success functional area on a timely basis.
- Serve as the main contact for college and community social services.
- Provides crisis intervention for students in distress.
- Serves as a member of the CARE Team
- Finds opportunities to enhance knowledge/skills related to diversity, equity and inclusion and put that knowledge into practice.
- Assesses students’ needs to develop and implement passive and active programming, including workshops, for students.
- Takes a holistic approach to ensure students are receiving wrap-around services
- Establishes and maintains open communication with students and faculty.
- Serves as a resource to faculty and staff in matters concerning student support services.
- Oversees the Emergency Assistance fund.
- Completes reports required by the Director of Student Success.
- Perform job duties in accordance with College policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participate in departmental meetings, committees, work groups/teams, and professional organizations.
- Enhance professional knowledge by keeping current with emerging practices; monitor developing trends; integrate new technologies as applicable.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Travel as needed to Education Centers.
- Demonstrated expertise and working knowledge of technical principles, theories and concepts in field of specialization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and complex issues consistently, confidentially and professionally.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple work assignments and manage multiple tasks in a constantly changing work environment while paying attention to detail.

Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology required.
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating social services and related activities required.
- Related experience working in an educational setting is required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Related work experience in higher education is preferred.
CLEARANCES
The successful candidate will be required to obtain/provide the following clearances prior to hire:
- PA Child History clearance
- PA Criminal Record Check clearance
- FBI Federal Criminal History Record clearance
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Prolonged sitting
- Frequent standing/walking or otherwise moving around campus
- Repetitive finger/hand movements
- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Occasional bending
- Ability to communicate orally and hear conversation
- Use of computer and internet/internet-based systems
- Reading and preparing documents, reports, presentations, etc.
- Work is primarily conducted in a typical indoor office environment with appropriate lighting, noises, and temperature control.
- Minimal risk of injury or work-related illnesses.
